When I ware in street lighting unit, I am not going out to the site because during that time most of the work there done by contractor. TNB staff just as the supervisor. Other that that, visual inspection done during night because only that time they can see which one lamp need to be repair. Moreover they are busy with sukan technical and internal audit I only help with office work such as keep in data for them.

PD MAPPING

Partial discharge mapping
Tactic has been used to tracing the possibility for the underground cable to break. This new tactic has been introduced for better maintenance for cable. This kind of tactic has reduced breakdown near 50 %.


Procedure
1. Off switch gear
2. measure resistance using meager
3. detect joint using TDR ( time domain reflector meter )
4. detect signal using calibrator
5. check sparkling with inject high voltage
6. OWTF ( Oscillating wave test system )
7. on switch gear.

FIRE FIGHTING

Pencawang is high risk place. Unnecessary danger like explosion can occur. Therefore pencawang need fire fighting system if this unnecessary situation happens. Every PE should have 2 fire extinguisher such as ABC or CO2. It for transformer room and LVDB & switch gear room each.

if pencawang building is on itself, it is enough with fire extinguishers but if pencawang building combine with other building, like at at apartment, pencawang need fire fighting system shown in first picture.

IPC (INSULATED PIERCING CONNECTOR)

IPC has been use to connect between 2 wire. In TNB the size of IPC used are:

• 185-120 / 25-16 mm
• 185-120 / 185-120 mm

Other that IPC, junction box is been used to connect wires. Between IPC and junction box, any can be used due to suitability.
